Herbology Class One

Marley walked around the greenhouse and set out some ear muffs, one for every student, and a set of dragon scale gloves for every student. She put on a cheerful face and waited for her students.

Catalina walked into the Greenhouses, a little excited about this lesson. Although she had never been exceptional at Herbology, she found in quite interesting. After all, it was known that Ravenclaws enjoyed classes and learning.

She walked to a table and gazed down at the earmuffs. "Are we going to be looking at some Mandrakes today, Professor Devere?" Catalina asked, gazing up at the Head of Hufflepuff.

Marley smiled at Catalina, and nodded her head. "Very good Miss Williams, how did you guess?"

Catalina smiled. "I've read that one cannot encounter Mandrakes without coverage on their ears, for if one does they can be knocked out for hours. But, of course, that's only when they're newborn. If they're adults, you can be killed, correct?" She wasn't sure about adults, but she stared at the professor, waiting for approval.

Marley smiled, impressed at the Ravenclaw's knowledge on Mandrakes. "That is correct, 10 points for Ravenclaw."

Severus walked in, happening to receive the end of the conversation he had interrupted. He smiled at Catalina before choosing a seat near the back. His black eyes glittered in the direction of the Professor and he nodded a hello. This wasn't one of his favorite classes, but he enjoyed learning things.

Marley nodded back at the Slytherin student and waited for more students to arrive. She was excited about todays lesson and hoped the student's would like it.

Krista walked into the green house and sat down in a seat. She sighed and looked around the room noticing that it was only her, the professor, Catalina, and Severus.

Kayalynn walked in and took a seat next to her sister. "Hey there Krissy, what's up?" She asked and looked around the room. "What's with the ear muffs?"

Leighanna walked into the Classroom and saw the earmuffs and automatically know they were leaning about Mandrakes. "Good morning Professor DeVere, I hope you well this morning."said Leighanna with a warm smile. As she took her normal seat which is always across from Krista or Lily she smiled at Krista and Kayalynn. "Hey Kris and Kaya."said Leighanna as she got her stuff out for class.

Sirius walked in and looked for a seat. He didn't really like Herbology. He saw Leighanna and smiled. He sat next to her. "Hello professor. Hi Leigh" said Sirius

Kaya smiled at Leighanna. "Hey Leigh," she picked up a pair of ear muffs. "Do you know what in the world we could be doing in Herbology with ear muffs?"

Narcissa walked in the classroom and took a seat near the back. Herbology was not her favorite class. As she spread her book across the table, she noticed the ear muffs and the gloves. She immediately thought of Mandrakes and her face turned into a frown.

"Were studying about Mandrakes or the common name for them Mandragora."said Leighanna as she got her stuff out for class. As Sirius sat beside her she smiled. "Hey love, I'm mad at you I forgave you remember?"Leighanna asked with a laugh and then gave him a soft kiss on the lips to show she wasn't lying.

Catalina heard Leighanna talking, and she almost puked at the sight. Part of her was unhappy that she and Sirius had made up and another part of her wanted to stand up and shove her wand down the Gryffindor's throat at the girl's apparent cheerfulness.

Her sapphire eyes flew in the direction of Narcissa, but she didn't say anything, knowing that the girl didn't really like her. Or, so she thought.

Catalina grinned, thankful that she had gotten here first to gain points for her house. She rolled her eyes at Kayalynn, thinking her an imbecile for not knowing what the ear muffs were for.

Narcissa could not help but to overhear Leighanna speaking to Sirius. Slightly annoyed, she silently scowled.

As her eyes flitted across the room, she saw Catalina's on her. Her sapphires for eyes looked fierce. Narcissa returned Catalina's look with her own intense stare. She instantly disliked the girl. Narcissa thought about her opinion of the girl again. She decided that she kind of liked her. Even though she was a Ravenclaw, she still seemed to possess the traits that Narcissa admired.

With a quill in hand, Narcissa looked back down at her blank parchment and smirked.

Brooklyn walked in and looked for Catty. When she saw her she set her stuff down beside her and sat down. "Hey Catty, so we're working on Mandrakes today?"

Catalina smiled at Bee, and then said, "Yes, and I gained us some House Points before anyone got here." She grinned again and then glanced at Narcissa and then back towards Bee.

Lucius casually walked into the classroom. It was not completely filled with students, but many were present. Narcissa was seated, and looked preoccupied. Not wanting to bother her, Lucius decided to find another place to sit. He looked about the class and spotted Severus in the back. He instantly walked to it. He decided this would be the perfect spot to sit, because he could converse with the Slytherin and keep an eye on Narcissa.

"How's it going?" Lucius asked Severus, while taking a seat.

Severus turned to look at the man which had spoken to him and he smiled genially. "Good. What about you?" he asked quietly, glancing over at Narcissa and then back at Lucius. "Are you two doing alright?"

Lily walked into the Green house and took a seat next to Leighanna, noticing the gloves and the ear muffs. "Hey, we're working on Mandrakes? Bloody brilliant!" she smiled. "They must be babies, otherwise we could easily be dead. I don't think that would go too well." she laughed.

Leighanna laughed. "Yeah Lils, there babies so if we don't have out earmuffs on they will still knock us out for a few hours so make sure your earmuffs are on we don't want people knocked out!"said Leighanna chuckling. "Oh sorry hey Lils, how are ya?"Leighanna asked with a warm smile.

Lucius grinned. He leaned back comfortably in his chair. He crossed his arms behind his head in a casual, yet poised manner.

"I am well, Severus." Lucius spoke. He followed Snape's eyes as they flew to Narcissa. Lucius allowed for his to linger on her for a while, then he turned back towards his friend. "Narcissa and I have never been better."

Lucius looked down on his desk to find the earmuffs. He brought his arms down to his sides before taking the earmuffs and balancing them on a finger. "Mandrakes, I see," Lucius yawned. "I wish this class offered more of variety. It seems as though we have already worked with Mandrakes already one year." Lucius shrugged then dropped them back onto his desk. This was probably his least favorite class. So what if he had to bear through a Mandrake lesson again.

Severus nodded in compliance before stating, "I'd much rather be in Potions." He shrugged, knowing that Lucius was aware of his fascination with making shortcuts to numerous concoctions. "This class is just an easy pass," he stated slowly, his black eyes glittering in the direction of his Lilyflower before flicking back to Lucius.
