Near The Lake at Night

Remus sat with his legs crossed, and his chin rested on his palms. He was waiting for Krista Green to show up like he had asked her. It was Dark, but there was a small amount of light from the moon, and from the lanturn he had hanging off of the near-bye tree.

Krista walked up silently behind Remus and put her hands over his eyes. "Hey there."

Remus chuckled and grinned. "Hey, Krista", He said, glad she had come like she said. He had started to think that she wouldn't show after what he had done. "Im sorry... About running out", He said quietly.

Krista shrugged and smiled with a light blush. "It's alright."

Remus turned around so that he was facing her and he took her hand before leaning in to kiss her on the lips gently.

Remus felt a pang of some sort of pain that ran through his viens. He suddered and tried to figured out the sorce of the sudden pain. He looked up at the sky and watched the clouds move over a full moon. His eyes went wide with fear. not now, oh please not now, he thought. Remus becan to tremble and he fell to his hands and knees as the pain grew worse. He tilted his head back and let out a horrid howl, he was transforming into his true form, a wolf.

Krista screamed when she saw Remus transform. She got up shakily and tried to run but she couldn't, it was like she was frozen in place.

a shiver ran down his spine and his thoughts were cleared from his head. He stared at Krista with animal eyes and hunched over slightly as he watched her.

Krista wanted to start crying...but she didn't. She stared back at Remus and wanted to run she couldn't think straight at the moment.

Remus let out a few whimpers and then tilted his head back and howled again. Every part of Remus' body pained him, but his mind was too controlled by the animal half to feel any of it.

Krista wished that someone was around to help her, but she didn't want anyone to hurt Remus. She was scared so she didn't move a muscle.

Severus happened to be strolling the grounds at the moment when he heard a feral growl. His black eyes flew across the grass and then locked on two figures. One, he knew was Lupin . . . the other he didn't.

Frowning, he sped towards them, hoping he could reach them in time before the Werewolf decided he was going to attack.

He arrived at least ten feet away and he called out to the girl. "You must get away from him! He's not safe in this state!"

Concern was etched into his voice, but it was only for the girl. He didn't care about Remus, or at least, he wouldn't have admitted it out loud.

Severus couldn't believe he was actually attempting to help this girl. Why couldn't she move?! Preposterous.

Frustrated, he strode towards her, gently grabbing her arm while taking a glance at Remus. He swiftly stepped in front of the girl, knowing that this must have seemed odd to both Remus and the girl. Severus, actually caring? Maybe he should've just gone back inside.

"Let's go," he muttered, looking back at her. "No good can come of this. Not when he's in that form." A piteous glance from his black eyes flitted to Lupin.

Krista started to silently cry and nodded. "Okay." She said quietly and started to walk slowly away.

Remus watched the new figure walk into his sight. Remus howled again, this time with anger. He started running at Snape, teeth bared.

Severus's black eyes glittered with sudden ferocity and he pulled Krista behind him before whipping his wand out. In an instant he thought Sectumsempra! and a flash of light ripped through the wooden stick held in his hands and aiming straight at Remus.

Krista gasped then tried to scream but she couldn't. She was terrified and didn't know what spell Severus could have used.

Remus whimpered fell to the ground, blood dripped from the gashes the spell had left. He howled in pain and tried to get up, but failed.

Krista cried at the site of her boyfriend. "We have to get him help, please."

Severus didn't regret in the slightest his choice of spells, because Lupin would have attacked the both of them if he hadn't done something quick. Turning to Krista, he said, "I believe that you should go and find help. I can handle him."

His black eyes glittered with finality, and he stared at Krista, hoping she would find the strength to run into the school.

As a sidenote, he muttered, "You do realize I only did that because he was about to attack, correct? He could've hurt you. Or me. I won't do it again. He's too weak to try that once more."

Krista nodded and ran back up to the castle to look for help. She ran to Professor Blacks office. "Headmistress! Remus, Severus, Lake, werewolf! Help!" she tried to get it all out but she was crying and was worried about Remus and Severus.

Remus shook his head and got to his feet. He grunted loudly and narrowed his large wolf eyes as he stared at Severus. He ran at him when he wasn't watching and dug his claws into him.

Severus, taken by surprise, kicked Lupin away and pointed his wand at him again. His black eyes glittered with venom as he got to his feet.

"Don't make me do it, Lupin," he whispered slowly. "You know I will without hesitation."

He kept his eyes on the weakened wolf and thought, Levicorpus.
